Fresh from the hive and delivered to your door! Our delicious
honey is made from the nectar of alfalfa, clover, canola, and
native wildflowers.
100% raw honey
The only processing our honey goes through is the filtering out of big wax pieces and bee particles! What this means is more natural honey which will eventually crystallize. Not to worry, this is a confirmation that it is raw, and nothing has been added to it!
About crystallization
The rate of crystallization depends on several factors, mainly the amount of glucose in the flower nectar. This means that the crystallization rate will be different in each honey variety.
What to do when your honey crystallizes
Crystallized honey is just as good as liquid honey! It will still melt in your hot tea or spread very nicely on toast. To bring honey back to its liquid form, all you need to do is gently warm it up by placing the container into a water bath of approximately 40°C!
What is propolis
Propolis is a resinous mixture that honey bees collect from tree buds, sap flows, and other botanical sources. It is used as a sealant for small gaps in the hive, as well as an antimicrobial agent to protect the hive from bacteria, fungi, and other pathogens. In addition to its use in beekeeping, propolis has a long history of use in traditional medicine for a variety of purposes.
There is evidence to suggest that propolis has a range of beneficial properties, including antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory effects. Some studies have found that propolis can inhibit the growth of certain types of bacteria, including those that cause dental plaque and gum disease. It may also have antiviral properties, as it has been shown to inhibit the replication of certain viruses in vitro.
In addition to its antimicrobial effects, propolis has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may make it useful in the treatment of certain inflammatory conditions. It has been used traditionally to treat wounds and burns, and some studies have suggested that it may be effective at reducing inflammation and promoting healing.
Other potential beneficial properties of propolis include antioxidant and immunomodulatory effects. Some studies have found that propolis can scavenge free radicals and protect against oxidative stress, which may have a range of beneficial effects on health. It has also been suggested that propolis may have immunomodulatory effects, meaning that it may help to modulate the immune system and improve its function.
Overall, propolis appears to have a range of beneficial properties that may make it useful in the treatment of a variety of conditions. However, more research is needed to fully understand its effects and determine the optimal ways to use it for therapeutic purposes.
How our tincture is made
Our propolis tincture is made by dissolving propolis collected from honey bee colonies into alcohol and straining out the sediment. We use 190 Proof ethyl alcohol (also known as grain alcohol or Everclear). This allows the tincture to be used internally or externally.
Precautions
It is rare, but some people are allergic to propolis so precautions should be taken. Because it is made with alcohol, all regular precautions concerning alcohol should be taken.
